Pedestrian Priority[edit | edit source]
Currently, Miah Close enjoys pedestrian priority for the residents of Carey Court, and Camberwell New Road residents and traders who use Miah Close for access. One possible definition of pedestrian priority is:
"A tendency for pedestrians to use the road space for walking along the centre length-ways, so not just crossing it, and at their own pace."
Even LTNs cannot claim this, due to the high quantity of delivery vehicles. Below are some videos showing the benefits of the current width for pedestrians, permitting social distancing and multi-speed pedestrian traffic in both directions, and with very clear lines of sight that reduce the likelihood of crime.
